Welcome to Woolley St

DKSN is transforming and our Chief Minister is getting behind it.

Dickson’s dining district has received a colourful makeover as part of the City Renewal Authority’s Woolley St. Project.

The Woolley St. Project aims to create a more vibrant, people-focused place for the Dickson community through a range of temporary activations, street improvements, activities and events.

Chief Minister Andrew Barr launched the project with a long lunch last week and said the ACT Government worked closely with the local community to create a plan for Dickson.

“The community told us they wanted things like festivals, community activities and public street changes along Woolley St,” Mr Barr said.

“This government is committed to delivering a better Dickson for businesses and the community. The feedback we receive will help guide long-term changes to revitalise this important area of our city precinct.”

Part of the project includes a large entry gateway designed by Jodie Cunningham Art, street furniture, pavilions, lights play equipment, cherry blossom trees and a public al fresco dining area.

From mid-October, there will also be a building a plaza at the Woolley St corner to host events including a community concert, martial arts demonstration, takeaway movie night, ping pong tournament, night markets, paper festival and bonsai workshop, and the first Great Woolley Street Feast to be held on November 9.

Dickson’s famous eat streets are set to get even better, with the addition of DKSN’s very own Eat St – with more than 20 dining opportunities from some big local and international names.

Dickson is the epitome of diversity, with its rich mix of cultures, flavours and things to do and the Woolley St. Project is just a taster of what’s to come for the area. DKSN is set to transform the area by helping create an even better place for people to work, live and play.
